Mirissa is a small beach town on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, famous for its whale watching opportunities. The waters around Mirissa are home to blue whales, sperm whales, and spinner dolphins. This coastal paradise also offers pristine beaches, coconut tree-lined shores, and spectacular sunsets.

Whale watching is possible year-round, but the best conditions are from December to April when seas are calmer. Blue whales are most commonly seen from December to April, while sperm whales can be spotted year-round.
The typical whale watching excursion lasts 3-4 hours, departing early morning around 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM. This timing offers the best conditions and highest chances of whale sightings.
Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, comfortable clothes, camera with extra batteries, and motion sickness tablets if you're prone to seasickness. Light jacket recommended for early morning trips.
While we have a high success rate (about 90%), whale sightings depend on weather conditions and natural behavior. Dolphins are seen on almost every trip, making it a memorable experience regardless.
