Yala
Wildlife Safari
All Year Round
6
Yala National Park is Sri Lanka's most visited and second largest national park, renowned for having the highest density of leopards in the world. This incredible wildlife sanctuary spans across 979 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of fauna including elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, crocodiles, and over 200 bird species.

The dry season from February to June is considered the best time for leopard sightings as water sources dry up and animals gather around remaining waterholes, making wildlife spotting easier.
A typical safari lasts 3-4 hours, usually in the early morning (6:00 AM - 10:00 AM) or late afternoon (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM) when animals are most active.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable clothes in neutral colors, camera with extra batteries, binoculars, and water. Avoid bright colored clothing as it may disturb the wildlife.
Yes, children are welcome on safari tours. However, they must remain seated in the vehicle at all times and follow the guide's instructions for safety.
